Hyundai Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the sole importer, assembler and distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Thailand yesterday rolled out the New Hyundai Grand Starex VIP Multi Purpose Vehicle with a introduction price of THB 1,898,000.
Mr. Yoshizumi Kurata, President of Hyundai Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd,. disclosed during the official launch that the latest MPV offering from Hyundai is a premium class 7-seater MPV, developed in Korea and assembled in Indonesia.
"Hyundai Motor (Thailand) wants customers to appreciate the higher image of Hyundai’s popular MPV product line, a premium alternative to the currently popular H-1 Series. This will help us understand more of the demand from our target customers in Thailand, whether they require only the 12-seater H-1 Series or expect the ultimate comfort and sensible uniqueness from the factory-built 7-seater", Mr Kurata explained. "We have positioned the Grand Starex VIP as the more luxury choice over the H-1 Series so sales targets are set only around 70-100 units per month. However, the real sales are expected to project the actual market acceptance and perception of this high-end Hyundai product," he explained.
The New Hyundai Grand Starex VIP is the reflection of the VIP experience. The vehicle shares the trustworthy structural integrity and power train of The New Hyundai H-1 Maesto Deluxe but directly built into a 7-seater form. Built at the Hyundai factory in Indonesia, the premium 7-seater enjoys the 0% import duty under the AFTA privileges however, with local content requirement of over 40%. The luxury MPV can still be competitively priced despite the passenger vehicle excise tax.
The New Hyundai Grand Starex VIP comes with 2,500 cc. turbo diesel commonrail EURO 4 engine that delivers maximum power output of 175 horsepower and maximum torque of 392 newton-meter, which releases power through the 5-speed automatic transmission plus manual H-matic mode to the rear wheels. Suspension includes McPherson Struts on the front and 5-link coil springs on the rear – the same suspension set up trusted in the H-1 Series.
What takes the New Hyundai Grand Starex VIP to another level of luxury starts from the chrome-highlighted front grille, new LED side-view mirrors and 17-inch alloy wheels. The interior indeed provides the real VIP experience. The highlights include double leather VIP seats that operate with power on the recliner and legs support; factory-warranty rails; reclining rear bench seat with central armrest; roomy luggage compartment; and the entertainment dashboard that incorporates DVD player by Alpine, speakers from JBL and 19-inch LCD screen with plug-ins for external connection and power outlet.
In the front comfy leather seats are of sporty design and multi-function, leather coverd steering; parking camera and electrically adjusted and electrical folding side-view mirrors.
Hyundai Motor (Thailand) is making the year end grand event a special treat for Hyundai customers with special campaign called the Expo Edition - the New Hyundai H-1 Maesto Deluxe equipped with built-in GPS and the New Hyundai H-1 Maesto Executive with DVD head unit at the current prices. 1-year comprehensive insurance is also given to every purchase of every model of the new Hyundai H-1 Series and every model of the New Hyundai Tucson 2.0. Special interest rate of 1.99% at 25% down payment for 48-month instalment program is also provided by KLeasing with a chance to win some attractive prizes when using KLeasing in “KLeasing Hyundai Lucky Draw 2010”.
