President of Toyota Motor Thailand (TMT) Co., Ltd., along with Mr Wichien Emprasertsuk, Senior VP,
Mr Vudhigorn Suriyachantananont, Senior VP, and Mr Nikorn Prasertsom, Vice President, jointly introduced The New Hilux Vigo VN Turbo at the Inter-Continental Hotel Ball room.
The slogan for the new one ton model line up was “Prerunner Ultimate Urban performance”
The Hilux 1-ton pickup truck has sold over 1,6 million units around the world since 2001. In Thailand the 7th generation of Toyota's global pickup truck reached the total sales of 699,181 units from year 2007-2009.

Its major strengths are that it is more powerful, but at the same time, more fuel efficient. And, because of its high utility, it represents a tremendous value to our customers with the most valuable price. Moreover, this new Hilux VIGO 2.5 VN Turbo will be a major model that will complete the model line-up of Hilux VIGO and help Toyota to expand its lead in the 1 ton pickup segment by the end of the year”

added” The new 2.5 VN Turbo engine's maximum power increasesby 20 percent as compared to the previous 2.5 liter engine. The maximum torque is equivalent to that of the 1KD engine, with its ability to generate flat torque at the rate of 1,600-2,800 rpm.
Most importantly, the fuel consumption rate of the 2.5 VN Turbo engine is also better than the previous 2.5 L engine by 8 percent with an increase in the acceleration rate at 0-100 km/h by 10 percent. In addition to its performance and fuel economy, we are confident that this new engine will serve all the needs of customers in terms of durability and advanced technology” concluded Mr Nigorn Prasertsom.
Apart from the Variable Nozzle Turbocharger, High Pressure Supply Pump and Intercooler as engine highlights the Smart Cab model comes with an increase in the entry/exit area by 51 centimeters. As well as increased side view mirrors with electrical retraction, increased one-touch powered windows with jam protection on driver side plus an increased center console storage box. This was also the introduction of the first double cab, four-wheel-drive pickup to be equipped with safety features ranging from VSC ( Vehicle Stability Control), TRC (Traction Control) and BA (Brake Assist).
The new Toyota Vigo Hilux Prerunner line-up will be available at 310 Toyota showroom nation wide.
Price range from the entry level Hilux VIGO Prerunner at 673,000 THB to the top-of-the-line Double Cab Four Wheel Drive at 781,000 THB.
The customer test drives will start from August 15th
at all Toyota dealers, all regions around Thailand.
